SPAM card game Golden Boar — HP Talents and Patch Changes
Golden Boar is listed in the supplied SPAM directory as an Earth Common with 900 HP and 6 Spamton income. Its talent options are Blue Whale, Vital Surge and Soul Vitality, each offering a different form of durability. Patch 1.23 changes two of those interpretations, so the older index must be read alongside the October 15, 2026 notes.

Three forms of staying power
Blue Whale increases the card's HP by 200 in the supplied talent index. That is a direct stated addition, unlike a recovery effect waiting for a condition. It does not establish any undocumented resistance or regeneration.
Vital Surge fully restores HP at the start of the turn if the card is below 10% HP. The threshold and timing both matter: surviving damage with a small amount of health is different from being killed outright. The talent is not described as a general resurrection effect.
What Patch 1.23 changes
The October 15 notes say Vital Surge no longer needs 100 Spamtons to trigger. They explain that this condition had been hidden from the description. A guide requiring Golden Boar to hold that amount would therefore preserve an obsolete restriction.
The same patch fixes cards killed at turn start by poison or Fatigue incorrectly returning through Vital Surge, Vitalheart or another HP-restoring effect. For Golden Boar, that means a low-health restoration plan must still account for lethal start-of-turn damage. Reaching the relevant turn alive is part of the condition's practical importance.
Soul Vitality after the reduction
The older talent index gives Soul Vitality a gain of 300 HP and maximum HP whenever a card on the field dies. Patch 1.23 reduces that gain to 200. The newer stated amount is the one used here, while the old number is retained only to explain the conflict.
This event includes a card dying on the field according to the index wording, rather than only a kill secured by Golden Boar. Its value nevertheless depends on deaths occurring while the talent can benefit its carrier. It should not be converted into a guaranteed amount of opening HP.
Comparing the choices
As a mechanics-based inference, Blue Whale offers a more immediate health increase, Vital Surge depends on surviving to a low-health turn start, and Soul Vitality depends on field deaths. That comparison describes timing rather than ranking their competitive strength. The source excerpts do not contain matchup results showing one wins most often.
The card's base resistance table and active abilities are missing from the supplied directory row, while the separate Tox list documents Punching Bag. Those gaps prevent a complete survivability calculation and a defensible damage role. The Earth label also does not prove that every ability uses Earth damage.
Punching Bag is a documented starting effect
The Tox directories identify Golden Boar as a starting Punching Bag carrier. The first describes a gain of one point of the carrier's element each time an enemy attacks it, while the second also lists higher general tiers without identifying Golden Boar's starting tier. Its Earth directory label therefore supplies the relevant element for that stated passive condition.
As a mechanics-based inference, enemy attacks can contribute Earth points to the player's pool while Golden Boar remains in play. This creates a reactive setup contribution alongside its selected survival talent, but it does not prove that Golden Boar's own actions all deal Earth damage. Patch 1.21 clarifies that only opposing attacks count, so unrelated damage should not automatically be treated as a trigger.
Sources and version scope
Identity comes from SPAM-cards.md, talent descriptions from SPAM-talents.md, and corrections from official Patch 1.23 on October 15, 2026. The supplied notes continue through Patch 1.25 but do not furnish a complete later Golden Boar sheet. Its active rotation, starting passives and tested team combinations remain Pending confirmation; see the card directory guide for interpreting the available fields.
